Nestled in the heart of Piemonte, a region known for its fruit cultivation and wine production, Cascina Cà Rossa was founded back 1967 when Alfonso Ferrio bought an old farmhouse named “Cà Rusa” which is translated to English as "red house" because it's made out of red brick. It became famous during this time period where many farmers were moving into cities for stable work but instead continued with his family tradition by cultivating peaches, hazelnuts and small quantities of wines (Arneis). In 2012 Cascina Ca Rossa received the Organic Certification, a milestone in our work. This certification is designed to preserve land and air quality by not using pesticides or synthetic elements on crops. The vines are grown naturally with copper and sulfur as necessary for control of peronospora and powdery mildew only when absolutely needed so that we can keep the grapes healthy too! To increase fertility of soil without chemicals, we use green manure which helps provide nutrients like nitrogen during times where there's no rain.
